Cutting Down Costs Less
Cutting down on the amount of energy we use around the home not only makes good sense - it could save you money too! We've put together 10 suggestions for you to try, most of which don't cost anything at all and could help you turn your home into a more environmentally friendly place to be!
1 We all know how luxuriating a deep filled bath can be, particularly after a long day at work, or after many hours of shopping! But keeping it to a treat is much better for your pocket - a bath can use up to five times as much energy as a shower - so opt for the quick, refreshing option as often as possible!

right, The STEAM FIT™ shower head from Villeroy & Boch spoils you with gentle rain jets.

2 Next time you put the kettle on, make sure you only put in as much water as you need and you could save up to £5 per year. A scaled element will also take longer to heat up so use an appliance descaler for even more energy efficiency. They're available from most major supermarkets.
3 Always turn the TV (and other appliances) off at night. You will use almost as much electricity by keeping it on standby as when it's switched on. Leaving lights on will also waste energy so switch them off when you leave a room.
4 Laundry is probably not a favourite job for most of us, but we can still make savings here. Always put a full load into your washing machine, unless you make use of a half-load or economy programme. And by knocking 5 or 10 minutes off the tumble drying time you will save even more!

right, Bosch products use Fuzzy logic to monitor energy use, to give optimum performance.

5 Lined curtains are a great way to retain heat in any room. To maximise their effectiveness, make sure that they don't cover radiators and prevent the heat circulating.
6 Make sure that any new appliances you buy are as energy efficient as possible. Not only will you be doing your bit for the environment, you will also save on running costs. Look out for the Energy Efficient logo.

7 Most of us wouldn't notice if we turned the heating down by just 1º but it could reduce your annual heating bill by a massive 10%, saving up to £30. And by leaving the central heating off for an extra hour each day could save a further £25 - well worth it!
8 Fitting thermostatic radiator valves (TVRs) allows you to control the temperature of each individual radiator, saving on average between £10 and £20 each year. You will soon reclaim the money spent and enjoy years of relaxing at 'just the right temperature'!
9 Use smaller appliances wherever possible as they use less energy - a toaster uses a third of the energy taken up by a grill.

right, Dualit are a great British tradition - renowned for their style and performance.

10 Insulating your hot water tank will make sure that stored water stays warm for longer, saving energy. For less than £10 you can buy an insulating jacket that could reduce heat loss by up to 75%, saving between £10 and £15 each year.
